Washington State's famed Columbia Valley produces extraordinary grapes in large part due to the area's great soils—the result of massive flooding during the last Ice Age. Light and porous, these soils are frequently wind-blown, and the windy tops of the many high hills and ridgelines of the region are typically devoid of soil leaving a "stonecap" of rocks behind.
Our 2016 Estate Chardonnay is bright and refreshing with expressive floral notes. Citrus fruit flavors blend with lush tropical fruit and mineral notes, perfectly pairing with fresh seafood or grilled poultry.
Our estate Riesling opens with fresh aromas of plum and peach mingled with light fragrant notes of jasmine and orange blossom. The wine has a pleasant refreshing bright acidity characterized by juicy tangerine, white peach and lemon zest with hints of honey. The mouthfeel of citrus and ripe peach follows through to a cleansing, satisfying finish.
The 2016 StoneCap Syrah opens with vibrant floral and smoky notes with hints of butterscotch and caramel. A soft, full‐ bodied mouthfeel highlighted by bright flavors of raspberry, red plum, and hints of juicy citrus is supported by polished tannins. Elements of dark cherry and mocha carry this wine through a pleasant finish.
Our Merlot is aromatically expressive with notes of strawberry, cherry, toffee, and hints of cardamom, thyme, and vanilla.
The 2016 Stonecap Cabernet Sauvignon exudes aromatics of baking spice with a subtle toastiness combined with red currants, black olive, and cured meat. Concentrated fruit flavors characterize the palate. A smooth, elegant, structured mouth feel revolves around flavors of currants, dried cherry, cassis, and plums. The finish develops into structured, integrated, and broad spicy and savory flavors accented with mocha and coffee.
