Limited production, handcrafted wines from premier, estate-grown grapes. Winemaker Andrew Wilson has his pick of the vineyard to craft Goose Ridge wines. Fermenting and aging wines in small lots from a handful of blocks carefully selected for their exceptional character and complexity is exactly what the Monsons had in mind for Goose Ridge when they founded the winery in 1999. The family has farmed in the Columbia Valley for almost five decades and is known for their commitment to quality. Goose Ridge Vineyard is built on that tradition.
A tribute to three generations of family winemaking, tradition, hard work and a commitment to quality. The g3 series of wines are all estate grown at Goose Ridge Vineyards and started with the red blend and due to popularity expanded in 2013 to include three additional varietals.
The g3 label represents the original three varietal blend, as well as three Monson Family generations farming the Columbia Valley for almost five decades.
Washington State's famed Columbia Valley produces extraordinary grapes in large part due to the area's great soils—the result of massive flooding during the last Ice Age. Light and porous, these soils are frequently wind-blown, and the windy tops of the many high hills and ridgelines of the region are typically devoid of soil leaving a "stonecap" of rocks behind. This expansive (2200 acres) and highly-regarded vineyard allows the Monson Family to produce stunning quality wines.
Arvid Monson developed his first vineyard on the advice of Dr. Walter Clore, known as the "Father" of Washington's wine industry. "Find a tall sage" advised Dr. Clore, "and you will have a place that will sustain superior grape vines." A tall sage is one that develops deep tap roots, and like Arvid himself, sustains the life around it. Tall Sage is the Monson Family's tribute to a man of great stature, the founder of Goose Ridge Estate Vineyards, Arvid Monson.
